A lawsuit has been filled against Bayshore Medical Center, claiming that the obstetrician’s failure to perform a timely C-section led to a baby’s brain injuries. The lawsuit states that the mother was admitted to the South Texas hospital at full term to give birth to her baby, but that the medical team failed to observe and document significant changes in the health and medical condition of both the mother and her unborn child, which ultimately caused brain damage.
The complaint alleges that since the medical team did not observe or document any problems with the baby and yet the baby subsequently had brain damage, then clearly the medical team failed in its duty to provide adequate care.
Additionally, other complaints filed against the medical team in the lawsuit includes failure to perform an emergency C-section in a timely manner, failure to perform the C-section in a sterile environment, failure to properly diagnose the baby’s condition and properly administer the necessary medical treatment to prevent permanent brain damage. The plaintiffs are seeking damages for the minor child’s past, present and future medical expenses.
