The couple claimed the doctor failed to diagnose that her shoulders were stuck during delivery, resulting in a brachial plexus injury. Alan and Larysa Asher filed a complaint against Dr. Anthony Onuigbo, alleging that negligence after the doctor failed to recognize that their daughter’s shoulder was lodge in place during delivery, resulting in permanent injuries when he used excessive traction to deliver her. Brachial plexus injury, also known as shoulder dystocia or Erb’s palsy, can occur when an infant becomes stuck in the birth canals and the nerves in the infant’s shoulder become damaged.
