Autistic Child Bitten by Substitute Teacher

A six year old child who has been diagnosed with having severe autism was bitten at school by a substitute teacher. The substitute reportedly bit the child on the arm in the presence of two other teachers who reported the incident. Palm Beach County Schools have issued statements claiming that the situation is upsetting to them, and that this was the first time that particular substitute has worked in their district. An investigation is underway by both the school system and the police. According to the child’s mother he will not be returning to the school, she claims that he is very scared and while he cannot explain how he feels he won’t let anyone touch his hand where he was bitten. Autism Scare Leads to Reduced Vaccination Rates

When families who have health insurance and can afford whatever medical care is needed for their children are choosing not to have their children vaccinated you have to wonder why. Why would parents choose not to protect their children from possibly deadly diseases? Apparently the fear of a relationship between autism and vaccines has convinced them that it is best not to get their children vaccinated. Observational evidence has shown that sometimes a child gets vaccinated and shortly afterward autism symptoms are noticed. The cause and effect is understandable, but scientists report that this is more than likely a coincidence of the stages of childhood development coinciding with the vaccinations. Repeated and exhaustive studies have shown no real link between autism and childhood vaccinations. Vitamin D, Autism and Neonatal Jaundice?

A recent study indicates that a case of jaundice in full term newborns is an indicator of a higher possibility of psychological disorders such as autism. The study shows that babies born at term with jaundice were 56% more likely to be diagnosed with autism that those who did not experience jaundice. The following observations were noted in the course of the study. ·    Jaundice was found more often in boys, preterm infants, low birth weight babies and babies with congenital malformations. ·    Oddly babies born between October and March were 97% more likely to develop autism than babies born in the other months. ·    Mothers who had already had a child had a 129% more likely chance to have an autistic child.
