Cerebral Palsy Lawyers Applaud Family of Boy with Cerebral Palsy Who Raised $40,000 for Disability Research
Finn Kelly was born 11 weeks early. His premature birth caused him to suffer from a baby brain injury, which later caused his diagnosis of cerebral palsy that left him unable to walk or talk. Now 8 years old, Kelly just finished the Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon on March 23 thanks to the support of his family and friends who literally pushed him to the finish line during the last mile of the race. His team, “Friends of Finn,” ran the half marathon and to date raised more than $40,000 for the Cerebral Palsy International Research Foundation (CPIRF), an organization committed to researching and finding a cure for cerebral palsy. According to the Rye Daily Voice, Kelly’s family created a fundraising website for the race in addition to donations given by their friends, family and church members to help raise research money. The umbilical cord provides vital sustenance to developing babies before childbirth. Since the child cannot breathe air, the umbilical cord provides the child with the mother’s oxygenated blood. When Claire gave birth 14 years ago, medical staff allegedly never noticed that her umbilical cord was crushed for 20 minutes. Her son did not receive oxygen during these crucial moments, and a few years later, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She says her son cannot eat, clothe himself or walk, and he has spasms every day. In response to the hospital’s negligence, Claire filed a birth trauma lawsuit against…

Irish Family Compensated for Lost Earnings Due to Son’s Cerebral Palsy
Catherine Kenny had big plans for her son, Shane. They live on a farm, and Shane was set to be the sole inheritor of the farm. He would oversee every task on the family’s 168 acres, which is valued at €2.3 million. When he became too old, he would sell the farm or pass it along to his children. Unfortunately, doctors made a mistake during Shane’s birth that led to his cerebral palsy. Due to his disability, he cannot work on the farm. Catherine filed a birth trauma lawsuit on behalf of her son to reclaim all the potential wages that he could have earned running the farm. The judge found that Shane’s birth injury disqualified him from earning a living from the family’s farm. The Kennys received €665,000 to compensate for potential lost wages. This is on top of an earlier €1 million award to compensate for his injuries…
