Report Links Plastics to Developmental Problems
According to an April 16, 2008 article in the LA Times, a report produced by a federal agency has discovered that a commonly used chemical in plastic may harm the development of children’s brains and reproductive organs. According to the article, The National Toxicology Program report found that fetuses, babies and children were at potential risk after reviewing some 500 experiments on laboratory animals. The chemical, widely used in plastic beverage containers, including baby bottles and food containers, is bisphenol A, or BPA. Hospital Fine for Overdosing not Enough

For example, the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angles was fined only $25,000 for overdosing 3 premature infants. The hospital was not fined $25,000 per infant, but for all 3 infants. Any more a person cannot get a decent car for less than $25,000, yet a major hospital is fined this amount for a completely preventable, senseless error. Does this fine really impact the hospital?
